Every AI Builder project starts with a message. Describe what you want — who it's for, what pages or features it needs, the look you're after — and the AI plans the project, writes the code, and shows it in the [preview](/ai-builder/preview-and-versions.md). Keep chatting to change anything. ## Ways to start | Start from | How it works | | ---------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ | | **A prompt** | Describe the site or app in plain language. Prompts work in 80+ languages | | **A template** | Pick a ready-made website or app from the template gallery and customize it in chat | | **A duplicate** | Copy one of your own projects — code, database, and store come along; chat history doesn't | | **A manual-mode site** | Recreate a drag-and-drop AI Builder site in agentic mode. The original stays as it was | The template gallery is split into **Websites** and **Apps**, with categories such as Ecommerce, Portfolio, Business & services, and Restaurant. The same templates are on [hostinger.com/templates](https://www.hostinger.com/templates). Site owners can let others start from their published site as a template. ## Inputs you can give the AI * **Text** — plain-language descriptions, as long and detailed as you need. * **Images and PDFs** — several files per message (JPEG, PNG, GIF, WEBP, PDF). Use screenshots or mockups as design references, logos and photos as content, and PDFs as briefs or menus. Large images are compressed automatically. * **Voice** — dictate with the microphone button in browsers that support speech recognition. * **Links** — paste a URL and the AI reads that page and uses it as a reference or content source. To work from a design, attach screenshots or exports of it. ## What the AI does for you The AI does more than write page code. Depending on what you ask for, it can: * **Design** — layout, typography, color, and responsive behavior for desktop and mobile. * **Create and edit images** — see [Agent capabilities](#agent-capabilities). * **Add a database** — collections, user sign-up and login, file uploads ([Integrated Backend](/ai-builder/integrated-backend.md)). * **Add server logic** — API endpoints, webhooks, scheduled jobs, and calls to third-party APIs using keys you provide. * **Add a store** — products, cart, and checkout through Hostinger Ecommerce ([Ecommerce](/ai-builder/ecommerce.md)). * **Add AI features** — chat, text, and image generation inside your app ([Integrated AI](/ai-builder/integrated-ai.md)). * **Connect email marketing** — send form sign-ups to [Hostinger Reach](/ai-builder/integrations.md#hostinger-reach). * **Handle SEO** — page titles, descriptions, social previews, sitemap, and structured data ([SEO](/ai-builder/seo.md)). * **Fix errors** — the AI checks the preview while it builds and fixes problems it finds. ## Agent capabilities Besides writing code, the AI agent has tools it uses while it builds. You don't need to set anything up — ask in chat. | Capability | What it does | | ------------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | | **Generate images** | Creates custom photos and illustrations from a description — hero images, product shots, team or venue photos — sized for where they go on the page. Stock photos are used when generation isn't a good fit | | **Edit images** | Changes images you attach or that are already on your site — swap a background, change the style or lighting, remove or add objects — and can combine several images into one | | **Search the web** | Looks up current facts, recent news, and reference material, and uses what it finds in your content | | **Read websites** | Opens a page you link, looks at its layout through screenshots, and can follow links across that site to use it as a reference or to bring over your existing content | > **Note:** Web search returns text, not media files. For video or audio, provide your own files or links. ## What the AI is tuned for The AI is especially strong at visual design, online stores, AI features, databases and sign-in, server APIs, multi-page sites with SEO, and browser games. Projects in these areas tend to come out more complete on the first try. The defaults are a React frontend, a Node.js server API, and the built-in database.
