# Domains Overview

Register, point, and manage domains and DNS from hPanel.

## Domain management

The **Domains** section of hPanel is organized into **Domain portfolio** (all your domains), **Get a new domain**, **Transfers**, and **Contact profiles** (the WHOIS contact details used for registrations). From there you can:

* Register new domains — one at a time or in bulk
* Renew existing ones
* Configure DNS, with snapshots you can restore
* Point domains to hosting
* Transfer in or out, with a transfer lock to prevent unauthorized moves
* Manage WHOIS privacy protection

## Domain types

| Type               | Description                                            |
| ------------------ | ------------------------------------------------------ |
| **Custom domain**  | A domain you've registered or transferred in           |
| **Subdomain**      | Prefix under your domain (e.g., `blog.yourdomain.com`) |
| **Free subdomain** | Hostinger-provided (`*.hostingersite.com`)             |
| **Parked domain**  | Points to your site without a separate website         |

## Domain status

| Status            | Meaning                              |
| ----------------- | ------------------------------------ |
| **Active**        | Registered and in use                |
| **Expiring soon** | Renew soon or lose it                |
| **Expired**       | Renew ASAP to recover                |
| **Pending**       | Registration or transfer in progress |
