# Hostinger Tools

Use the Hostinger Tools plugin for WordPress to manage maintenance mode, XML-RPC and application passwords, HTTPS redirects, LLMs.txt for AI discovery, and cache clearing.

**Hostinger Tools** brings everyday site-admin settings into one screen in the WordPress admin: maintenance mode, security toggles, redirects, AI discoverability, and cache clearing.

* **Requires:** WordPress 5.5 or later, PHP 8.1 or later

## Get the plugin

Hostinger Tools is installed automatically on new WordPress sites hosted on Hostinger. If it's missing, install it either way:

* **From hPanel:** go to **Websites** → your website → **Dashboard** → **WordPress** → **Overview**, and click **Install** next to Hostinger Tools under **Recommended installations**.
* **From the WordPress admin:** go to **Plugins** → **Add New Plugin** and search for **Hostinger Tools**. This also works on sites hosted elsewhere.

The plugin works on any host. **LLM Optimization** and **Clear cache** only work on sites hosted with Hostinger.

## Open Hostinger Tools

In the WordPress admin, go to **Hostinger** → **Tools**. You need administrator access.

The top of the page shows your **WordPress version** and **PHP version**, with an **Update** button when a newer version is recommended. Change PHP versions in hPanel — see [PHP Configuration](/websites/php.md).

## LLM Optimization

Helps AI tools such as chatbots and AI search find and understand your site. Turn the whole section on or off with the toggle in its header.

| **Create LLMs.txt file** | Publishes an `llms.txt` file at your site root summarizing your posts, pages, and WooCommerce products for AI tools. It updates as your content changes and skips password-protected posts. Click **LLMS.txt** to open the file, or **Check validity** to test it |
| **Web2Agent**            | Gives AI agents a structured way to read your site. Click **Copy agent url** to share the address with an AI tool                                                                                                                                                 |

LLM Optimization isn't available on temporary domains. Click **Connect domain** to connect your own domain first.

> **Note:** If your site already has an `llms.txt` file from another plugin or added by hand, Hostinger Tools asks for confirmation before replacing it. Click **Create file** to continue, or **Cancel** to keep your existing file.

## Maintenance

| Setting              | What it does                                                                                                                                                   |
| -------------------- | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Maintenance mode** | Shows visitors a "Coming Soon" page while you work. Logged-in administrators still see the real site                                                           |
| **Bypass link**      | A link that lets anyone you share it with see the real site while maintenance mode is on. Click **Reset link** to invalidate the old link and create a new one |

To check what visitors see, open the site in a private or incognito window.

## Security

| Setting                           | What it does                                                                                                                  |
| --------------------------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Disable XML-RPC**               | Blocks the legacy XML-RPC interface, a common target for brute-force attacks. Leave it on unless an app you use needs XML-RPC |
| **Disable application passwords** | Blocks WordPress application passwords, which let external apps sign in to your site                                          |

> **Note:** AI tools that connect [directly to the AI plugin's MCP server](/wordpress/hostinger-plugins/ai-plugin/mcp-server.md#connect-directly) with an application password stop working while this is on. Use an access token instead, or connect through Hostinger Connector, which doesn't need either.

## Redirects

| Setting         | What it does                                                                                          |
| --------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Force HTTPS** | Redirects every `http://` request to `https://`. Needs an [SSL certificate](/websites/ssl.md)         |
| **Force WWW**   | Redirects the bare domain to its `www` version. Only shown when both addresses point to the same site |

## Performance

**Clear cache** clears your website cache and the Hostinger [CDN](/websites/cdn.md) cache in one click, so visitors see your latest changes right away.

## Troubleshooting

### Locked out by maintenance mode

Log in at `yourdomain.com/wp-admin` — administrators can always reach the admin — and turn **Maintenance mode** off. You can also turn it off from hPanel: open your website dashboard, go to **WordPress** → **Overview**, and switch off **Maintenance mode** in the **Core** section. If neither works, run `wp hostinger maintenance mode 0` over SSH, or deactivate the plugin by renaming `wp-content/plugins/hostinger` in File Manager.

### The Hostinger menu is missing

Check that Hostinger Tools is installed and activated under **Plugins**.

### An app can't connect to WordPress

Turn **Disable application passwords** off, or turn **Disable XML-RPC** off if the app uses XML-RPC.

## FAQ

Yes. Deactivate or delete it like any plugin. Your site keeps working, but the settings on this page — including maintenance mode and the HTTPS redirect — stop applying.
